| Welcome to Loyal, Indiana Living History Village 1900-1925 Print Shop Richard and Mary Edith McKee, Rochester, donated the antique printing equipment including the linotype, printing presses, folder, and oak cases of wood and lead type. McKee published The Shopping Guide of Fulton County for over 30 years. He hung the WANTED posters and other interesting printing history on the walls. A hand-operated printing press from Rochester Middle School is used to print pages for mementos for visitors. The building is an old buggy shed, donated by Joel Divine. It was built about 1900 by Frank Rohrer. The building was moved here in Aug. 1994 and restored by volunteers. Blacksmith Shop This replica of a blacksmith shop was built by volunteers - members of the Indiana Blacksmithing Association, Rural Smiths of America, and Artist Blacksmiths of North America. They demonstrate and teach the ancient art of iron working the second weekend of each month and during festivals and special events. It was dedicated in 1997 as the Sutton - Terock Memorial Blacksmith Shop in memory of Forest Sutton, Tiosa blacksmith 1940-70s, and Howard Terock, Gary, who donated much of the equipment in the shop. Fred Oden, Tiosa, was inspired by Sutton and was the main organizer of this project. He is the forgemaster. |
